As with everything goal-related, a detox fast starts first with the mindset. You must believe that your body, this temple God gave you, deserves the best treatment you can offer. If you've been eating a Standard American Diet (SAD) for any length of time, then a detox fast IS the best treatment you can offer your body to give it a much-needed cleansing.


The brain will naturally tell you otherwise. But remember, the brain is just a muscle. Nothing is contained there until you feed it negative information or positive messaging. You rule your brain. Your brain doesn't rule you. Therefore, when your brain tells you that fasting will be too difficult, you have to override and "overwrite" that thought that is there due to old programming.


Just know there are numerous types of fasts. Some are as short as seven days; others as long as 40 days. Some are full days in a row; others are intermittent (ex: eat for 8 hours only, then fast for 16 hours). Don't feel you must stick with any particular type if it's too difficult or not serving you well. Do your homework to find one that suits you. Unfortunately, you really won't know what suits you until AFTER you try one on for size a time or two. Also, because no two people are exactly the same, no two results from detoxing will be the same either. So do not get hung up on what someone else achieves from their fast. Just do you, boo!


Especially, if you are a first-time detoxer-- it is quite okay to MODIFY your fast if necessary. Just be careful not to sell yourself short--that is if you truly want to see results.
